Crime scenes and investigations
The forensic identification section provides support services to all other divisions of the Lac des Deux-Montagnes Police Board. When discovering a crime scene or during the course of an investigation, the forensic identification officer can be called upon to apply one of several forensic techniques such as:
- collecting elements of physical evidence for analysis (fingerprints, DNA, etc.)
- photographing and documenting the state of a crime scene’s premises
- fingerprinting and photographing the accused in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada
- ensuring the integrity of the evidence seized and stored
- identifying altered or burned vehicles
