Solve crimes on the territory
Following the initial analysis of an intervention, the criminal investigations unit is brought in to help solve crimes committed on the territory by applying investigative techniques. Detective sergeants work under the direction of a detective lieutenant. Investigators receive specialized training in order to better meet the different needs of investigations, regardless of their nature. They :
- specialize in conducting interviews with young children
- are trained in interviewing victims
- manage crime scenes
- question suspects
- write up warrants authorizing legal searches
- assist the coroner on investigations involving a death.
