Prevention, information and relations
The socio-community section consists of 2 officers and one sergeant. These officers develop sustainable relations with the community. They:
- go out and meet with citizens and merchants, in schools, seniors centres, community centres, etc.
- give various presentations dealing with prevention from a number of angles. Ex.: The effects of drugs, fraud prevention, alcohol abuse, etc.
- ensure a presence in the territory’s schools
- carry out mediation between youths in schools
- organize community activities
- conduct criminal background checks on individuals working with vulnerable persons.
